New Trauma Triage Module Launches in Acute Care Triage

As of today, the new Trauma Triage module is officially available in ACT, marking a major step forward in supporting critical transport decisions in the field.

Assessing injury severity in a prehospital setting is challenging; patients do not always present with clearly severe symptoms, yet timely access to the right level of care is critical for survival and recovery.

By providing structured, evidence-based decision support, the Trauma Triage module ensures the right patient gets to the right place at the right time—improving patient outcomes while reducing the burden on highly specialized trauma centers.

Developed and Validated in Partnership

This new functionality is the result of a close collaboration with researchers from UMC Utrecht. The module is directly powered by their foundational research on prediction models for prehospital trauma triage, ensuring top-tier scientific backing. The underlying methodology is validated across peer-reviewed literature, including:

To guarantee robust practical usability, the system was extensively tested and implemented alongside NAZ Zuidwest, Erasmus MC, and its affiliated ambulance services: RAV Rotterdam Rijnmond, RAV Zuid-Holland Zuid, and RAV Zeeland.
